Courses
DLA
has been conducting training courses at the certificate
level since 1955. Delhi Library Association is proud
of the tremendous success it has achieved by conducting
training course at the certificate level. Nearly
6000 students have already undergone the training.
The Certificate course is very popular and is attracting
a large number of applicants for admission to the
course every year. In view of the heavy rush, The
School of Library science obliged to select every
year about 100 candidates from amongest the applicants.
It is a part-time course, conducted in two shifts.
The duration of the course is one academic year.
The course contents are constantly being reviewed
to introduce changes for meeting the needs of the
time. The training is imparted with the highest
standards. Best Delhi librarians and teachers with
long record of teaching experience are associated
with the training programme. All of them work in
an honorary capacity. Since long, the course has
been recognized by the Government of India for the
purpose of employment. Delhi Library Association
is proud of its trainees who not only have good
job opportunities but also acquip themselves with
latest library techniques in the places of their
work
Diploma
in Library and Information Technology. ( DLIT )
Diploma in Library
and Information Technology provides a sound knowledge
of library and information technology. The Diploma
holder receives a sound practical training with
good theoretical knowledge.
Hands on experience is provided during the course.
Seminars by best librarians in delhi also provide
daily life experiences. The DLIT course was started
in 2003 which is open to C.Lib Sc., Dip. Lib.Sc.,
B.Lib.Sc., M.Lib.Sc degree holders. However the
minimum eligibility for admission is C.Lib. The
students are given hands on training in six selected
library software packages commonly in use in libraries.
The DLIT is six months durarion course January-
June and July - December) twise in year. One can
apply for admission in the month of December and
June respectivily.
Prof S Das Gupta Memorial Lecture Series was instituted
by the Association in 1967. Prof Das Gupta was the
Founder Director of the School Of Library Science.
Certificate in Library Science ( CLS )
The DLA is also running a certificate course in
library science which is certified by the Govt.
of India. This course is certainly a big plus point
to ones resume. The certificate awarded here have
a huge demand all over Delhi one month training
in well developed libraries. The C.Lib. is one year
durarion course (July - June.
One can apply for admission in the month of June.
IGNOU
Courses in Library and Information Science
DLA is honoured to be
an IGNOU programme Study. B. Lib. & Inf. Science
and M. Lib. & Inf. Science are taught here.
These courses are one of their kind in India. They
have a country wide repute. These courses open a
window for good job opportunities. The courses are
very interactive with hands on training as well
as seminars by top librarians of Delhi

Bachelor of Library and Information Science
